Former Strata Titles Board officer charged with cheating
  Posted On: 12-2-2009 410 Views

SINGAPORE: A former Strata Titles Board officer has been charged in court on Thursday for two offences of cheating and providing false information.

The case revolves around a quote for transcribing services for the board.

The court heard that the accused, 25-year-old Hong Shihui and another person, Rajasvarai d/o Radhakrishnan, had prepared a quotation which was sent to the board's Registrar for approval.

However, subsequent investigations revealed that payment for the transcribing works was made to the account of Hong's cousin who neither did transcribing work nor submitted a quote for the job.

The Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau, instead, found that the payments of S$10,592 were split equally between Hong and Rajasvarai.

Rajasvarai has since been convicted and sentenced to three months' jail on January 14.

If convicted of cheating, Hong could be sentenced to one year's imprisonment, or fined, or both.
